The verdict
A Showa-era sento renovated in 2025: sauna, a chilled cold bath, a deep hot bath and tap beer upstairs, for 880 yen. Women's days are two Wednesdays a month.
Saturday at eight
At weekends the doors open at 8:00, early for a sento. Wash, then the deep bath, heated from below, then the low, cave-like mist sauna.
The cold bath has its own chiller, so it stays cold all year. Afterwards go up to the second floor: high ceilings, big windows, draft beer at 480 yen.
Why this one
Funaoka Onsen, 200 m away, is the better-known sento, but it rates 4.3 on Google, under our line.
Meijiyu earns its place on the circuit, sauna and chilled cold bath, and on the room upstairs.

Skip it if
You're a woman visiting on any day but the second or fourth Wednesday: men and women take turns, and those are the only ladies' days. Hinode-yu, in the south, has separate baths every day it's open.

Weekdays 14:00 to 02:00, weekends and holidays 08:00 to 02:00. Men and women take turns; ladies' days are the 2nd and 4th Wednesday. Towels are extra. Bathe naked, as in every sento.
