Madrid: two hammams, a hot-and-cold circuit, a hotel pool and a private spa

Madrid has hammams, but not a hammam tradition of its own. The baths of al-Andalus disappeared after the forced conversions of 1502, and we found no source for a medieval bath in Madrid. Today's Arab baths are a modern revival, so none carries our Ritual tag.

We chose five, at least 1 km apart: two hammams, a hot-and-cold circuit, a hotel spa with a pool and a private spa in the north. Salamanca and Retiro have no pick: the nearest candidate, a beauty centre, sells its infrared sauna as a treatment, and our rules count only heat rooms you sit in. Moncloa has no pick either.
