Taipei: a hinoki sauna before the massage and two Korean-style sweat houses
Taipei's own bath is the hot spring of Beitou, in the far north of the city, where steam rises from the streams of a geothermal valley. Its public bath, finished in 1913, was the largest in East Asia in its day. It has been the Beitou Hot Spring Museum since 1998.
Beitou is not on this list. Wellspring by Silks, The Gaia and Grand View Resort are listed on Google as hotels, and a hotel's general listing cannot stand in for its spa. The public baths sit under our rating line: Long Nice Hot Spring at 4.2 and Beitou Qinghuang at 4.0.
What remains is three heated rooms in the centre: a hinoki sauna before treatments in Da'an, and two Korean-style sweat houses, called 汗蒸, in Xinyi and Zhongshan. For the sweat houses our evidence is Google reviews, named with their year on each entry. Zhongzheng, where every candidate was a massage shop, has no pick.
